AUSCHWITZ
Oil painting on paper, 70x50 cm, 2018
Series of 12 portraits
After a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau, I created a series of portraits
based on archival photographs. By transforming black and white images into colorful paintings, I sought to restore a human presence to faces frozen by history. Color here becomes a symbolic gesture: an attempt to reintroduce life, emotion, and individuality into these images. This work explores memory, absence, and art's capacity to create a sensitive connection between the past and the present.
